So excited to finally bring to life an idea that had been in my thoughts for a long time. I love blogging. I love reading blogs and I love having a place to share my thoughts! I've decided to not update this blog anymore (it will still be up so that I can link people to specific sessions or information) and I've created 2 new blogs!!!

Blog #1 - Jessica's Daily Photo

Here I will attempt to update with daily (or at least a few times a week) photos from family sessions, weddings, my own family or just basically anything I find a picture of that I love. It will be a great spot for you to visit for some visual inspiration.

Blog #2 - Jessica's House

This is something that I am SO excited about! Here I will showcase different projects I'm working on around my house, knitting and sewing projects and other fun things that I think look cool.

I'm still messing around with both blogs to figure out how they will look and adding links and images constantly. I've decided that I'll have one meeting place for all of my sites.

I love being reminded of this lovely fall day when I look at these photos from last October....

(Sidenote: It's been a rough few weeks around here. All 3 of my kids have been sick with a number of different viruses, infections and other fun things. We still aren't over it either and suspect that Addie has an ear infection. :( I'm hoping to get back to a somewhat regular blogging schedule this week. On a happy note though, my wonderful husband is celebrating his 32nd birthday today with a surprise snow day!!!!)

Yes, this little lady is 9 months old as of Tuesday. What??!!!??? I can't even think about the fact that in 3 months we will be hosting our very first princess party. :) She really is the light of our lives!!!

Some cool things she is doing right now:

-She is a professional army crawler. Seriously. She can make it around our house in minutes on those forearms.
-She is also a professional eater. This girl will eat anything. And a lot of it. Something's got to feed those chunky cheeks.
-She is starting to love music and dancing.
-She is very attached to me but is also a little obsessed with watching her brothers and daddy.
-She's a fabulous sleeper. Thank you God.

(On a fun note - this is my 300th post!!! Crazy! Thanks for reading!)

I almost cried when I walked into Aaron and Christine's wedding. Seriously. It was so beautiful. Even better than the decorations? It was so obvious how in love Aaron and Christine are. Truly an honor to witness....

I'm totally blogging out of order here....I literally have 27 sessions to blog about from this crazy fall season. Blessed does not even begin to describe how lucky I feel to be so busy.

Anyways, Sarah and Justin are getting married next May and I CAN'T wait! I worked with Sarah's mom and dad at my old desk job and they were 2 of my favorite people there so it makes me so happy to be able to celebrate this even with them.

I don't even know where to start when it comes to Miss Addison. Life has changed so much since her arrival yet it feels like she's always been a part of our family. Yes, I am SO late to post this and Yes, I am completely and utterly behind on well, mostly everything right now! :) The good news? It's the end of October, only 2 weddings left for the year and that means the holidays are coming up! Crazy, right?

Anyways, I don't want to outshadow Jen and Duane's beautiful, gorgeous, fabulous, sweet did I say beautiful wedding! Corinne from Sebesta Designs went over the top on all the florals and decor. I was in a flower lovers heaven! And, the bride and groom? Not too shabby either!!!!

I love this image for more than one reason but I love that I caught a real, true moment between Jen's mom and step-mom. It was so obvious that Jen had 2 sets of parents who adored her like crazy and I'm so happy to have this moment for her to see.

Jen's only request for the day was that I get a photo of Duane when he first sees her...I hope this is what she meant!

procrastination

Oh, I've been the Queen of Procrastination the past couple days. I could win some awards when it comes to not getting any work done. I don't know if it's the weather (cold, gray, ick), the fact that my to-do list is quite unmanageable right now, or the fact that I'm just exhausted.

I hit this point every year where the wedding season is winding down but I am bombarded with album designs, family photos and holiday craziness that gets started right around Halloween. I'm trying to stay organized and keep it simple but I can slowly feel that stress and panic of "How will I ever get this all done?" creeping into my thoughts.

To keep myself motivated I put together a little board of things that are making me happy right now (besides my beautiful, active, smiling, adorable, active, loving, active children!)....

-Albums from Kolo
-The New Moon Soundtrack (Can't WAIT!!)
-New Fabric from Amy Butler
-I just want to have a picnic at that table (I've been slightly obsessed with flowers lately) image from Amy Osaba
-Feeling the need to re-organize my office space and refresh my whole house with paint.

I have so much to share here and can't wait! I have 2 great weddings and a whole bunch of family sessions!

So glad it's Thursday.....looking forward to Grey's tonight with the hubby. I'm thinking that I will not even have my laptop attached to myself tonight. Just me, the couch, Tim and the TV!

This makes me laugh everytime I look at it...

Since it's Monday and my mind is feeling a little fuzzy, I have random thoughts today.

-It's cold and cloudy here today and that makes me so sleepy. I have no time to be sleepy!

-I'm testing a recipe for homemade Apple Butter using my crockpot and my house smells amazing.

-I'm wishing I could go here but I know it's just not possible right now. Isn't her photography dreamy?

-Thinking that I need to get out all our winter gear to make sure it fits but really not motivated to think about snowy, cold mornings and how they really aren't that far off.

-I have 2 beautiful weddings and 3 fun family sessions to edit.

First option? The usual session at the location of your choice! Cost=$100 + the price of prints or digital files.

Second option and new this year: Mini-sessions! Are you trying to save a little cash this year but still want some new, cute shots of the family? I am excited to announce that I have a solution for you. I have picked 2 dates and 2 locations for some sessions! Basically, you show up to me and we have a mini-session to get some updated images of your adorable family. On October 24, I will be at the Woldumar Nature Center from 10-12ish. On November 7, I will be in Old Town Lansing from 10-1ish. Please email me for specific times! The cost is only $125 and that includes your 20-25 minute session AND a cd with digital files of the images from your session in both color and black and white. This gives you the ultimate freedom to do what you want! Personally, I am taking some updated photos of my kids and making photo calendars for the grandparents!

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW......Gray skies and clouds. Still kinda warm for this time of year. I'm actually ready for some cooler weather. I have lots of new scarves and hats to wear...

I AM THINKING.....about the family from Potterville that lost their 17 year old daughter in a car accident last weekend. Her funeral is today and it just makes my heart hurt to think about it.

I AM THANKFUL FOR....my healthy, beautiful children and the fact that I get to be home with them while also following my own dreams and goals of having my own business.

FROM THE KITCHEN.....a big mess. Fridge needs to be cleaned out which means leftovers for dinner tonight!

I AM WEARING....jeans and t-shirt, bare feet. My uniform.

I AM CREATING....2 scarves and a hat. See, I'm ready for cool weather! Also editing 3 family sessions from last week and finishing up 2 weddings.

I AM GOING....to take a nap this afternoon.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...Tim's homemade salsa with fajitas from dinner last night.

A FEW PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK....Tim and the boys are going up north (I am staying home for a wedding on Saturday) so I need to get them packed and ready to go! Secretly, I'm looking forward to just hanging out with Addie this weekend. The house will be ridiculously quiet and I need it. :)

You first met Taylor + Mitch here....

Their wedding was so sweet. Some things I loved about their day:

-I loved that it felt like we were way out in the country (we were)!

-The tiny little country chapel was priceless!

-The bridal party was escorted through the countryside between the ceremony and reception by a horse drawn wagon. I got to ride up front with the driver...too fun!!!! I really loved that Taylor and Mitch did this because it totally fit with Taylor's love of horses and it was seriously one of the nicest days we have had. Not too hot, the sun was shining. It would have been a waste to be driving around inside a big limo. Seriously.

-Taylor's dress totally rocked and I LOVED that she wore orange patterned shoes. Too bad they were the most uncomfortable shoes ever.

-The reception hall was decorated SO cute - totally put me in the mood for fall.

Funny story about this shot...we were riding around after the ceremony and saw this huge John Deere tractor - one of the groomsmen jumped off the wagon, ran through a field and asked the owner of the tractor if we could get some pictures on the tractor! I love the shots.

I love that Alison and Josh (who now live in sunny California) came back to their hometown to get married and celebrate with their family and friends! The weather was a tiny bit threatening but the rain didn't make any appearances and well, we survived the windiness!

I think the day was perfect and I was so happy to celebrate with Alison and Josh!

I love the combination of flowers - romantic roses and the most beautiful hydrangeas grown at the home of Alison's parents!

Alison was SO stunning.

I am really in love with Alison's expression in this shot. A little bummed that you can see the lovely cars in the background but sometimes you just can't choose where you capture the best and most real expressions.

Turns out this tree that I love at MSU's Beal Botanical Gardens is called "The Wedding Tree." It's my favorite.

And, they lived Happily Ever After!

I have soft spot for college sweethearts and I especially love shooting their weddings. I married my own college sweetheart 8 years ago and I love that we have such fun college memories to look back on together.

Katie and Mike met at Michigan State University a few years ago while they were both students and I believe while working at Abercrombie + Fitch together. With a love for all things Spartan, they are sticking around East Lansing to build their life together and I wish them nothing but the best!!!!

Whew, the last few weeks have been busier than ever. (I feel like I say that all the time, I wonder if I'll ever feel "not busy". Doubt it.)

After having my yearly wedding season breakdown (Friday), I am now feeling way more focused and READY to tackle the to-do list that is my life. I have to say how much I appreciate my patient and awesome clients. My editing time is taking FOREVER right now and so far, I've had no one threaten to tie me up to my laptop to just finish their wedding pictures already. So, here's a public THANK YOU to some very patient people. You're the best!

I can't wait to blog about 3 weddings, some other fun portraits and my adorable family. Little Miss Addie is just growing like a weed and our newest edition, Mario the Westie, is adjusting to life with the crazy Cornman family very well!

On the agenda for today? Laundry, final edits & blog preview for Katie & Mike's beautiful MSU wedding, work on editing Alison & Josh's gorgeous "Green" wedding and Taylor & Mitch's adorable country wedding. Lots of eye candy coming soon!

It's all in the details....and this wedding did not disappoint.

I woke up up the morning of August 8 to thundering skies and a really huge downpour. Normally, I love a good summer storm but I kept thinking, "Not today, not for this wedding!"

After shooting Luke and Jessica's engagement photos I knew their wedding was going to be amazing. The location, the details, everything. Needless to say, I was thrilled to be the one to document their day. Again, another reason I love my job.

Back to the rainy, cold, drizzly morning of August 8....I prayed and prayed for the rain to stop. I can deal with clouds and I can be cold. I like sweaters. I pulled out of my driveway that afternoon and literally as soon as I was on the road, the rain stopped mostly and the clouds were starting to break up a little. I couldn't thank Mother Nature enough.

I pulled into the Rosewood Inn and could tell everything was falling into place. Once Jessica was ready and into her amazing gown, she was ready to see Luke. They decided to see each other before the ceremony and it was a really sweet moment. At that point the rest of the evening flew by. The ceremony went off without a hitch, dinner was fabulous and Jessica and Luke's closest friends and family had an amazing time.

I couldn't get home fast enough to download and view my images. I was in love. I hope I was able to capture this event the way Jessica and Luke envisioned. Anne and Adam were married a few weeks ago at the beautiful St. Thomas Aquinas Church in East Lansing. Their ceremony was seriously one of the most beautiful I have ever witnessed. Anne is a musician and comes from a family of very talented people so obviously music played a huge role!

The reception was held at The Lexington Hotel in Lansing (formerly The Sheraton Hotel) and a great time was had by all! My favorite part? When the whole dance floor was dancing in sync to Michael Jackson's "Thriller". :)

I have to say, Katie and Drew's love story is one of my favorites of all time....She's a figure skater, he's a hockey player.

Now, if you know me at all you know that I am a sucker for cheesy movies. One of my top favorites is "The Cutting Edge", a love story between a figure skater and hockey player....Yes, I totally think of them as my "Cutting Edge" couple! And yes, I totally watched the movie after their wedding.

-Okay, I know I am like the last person on earth who hasn't seen "Twilight" but I FINALLY watch it last night and I loved it. I seriously can't wait for New Moon. There, I said it. Plus, I really liked the lighting in the movie and was totally picturing a photo shoot in the woods. (My mind totally wanders late at night)

Morris was so sweet and touching - they couldn't stop smiling at eachother! After the ceremony, we headed to Frankenmuth for a reception at the infamous Bavarian Inn. It was a beautiful day with lovely people!

Saw this here and really loved the idea.

One of my personal goals is to do a better job at documenting my life. It's very important to me to have a record of my life for myself and for my children and grandchildren and beyond. I used to do a lot of scrapbooking but at this point I just don't have time to make big elaborate albums. As you can imagine, I take zillions of pictures of my kids but I don't always record what's going on in the picture, where we are, what I was feeling, etc. Heck, I'm still working on getting them printed in a timely manner!

Anyways, I like this idea of recording little snippets of info about me personally and our family here and there. Ideally, I would pull the info and text from my blog and maybe create a little book yearly with photos from the year scattered about? We'll see where it goes!

OUTSIDE MY WINDOW......Summer is finally here! Blue skies and green grass are truly beautiful.

I AM THINKING.....that I have a lot to do in a short time.

I AM THANKFUL FOR....our health insurance. Besides the obvious reasons, our insurance covers chiropractic care and therapeutic massage and for that, I will forever be grateful. I look forward to my weekly massage to relax and re-charge. It's as essential to my mental health as much as it is to my physical well-being.

FROM THE KITCHEN...yikes, it's too messy to think about. (english muffin pizzas on the menu for dinner tonight!!!!)

The day was really quite perfect for a wedding. Ben and Rachel had the kind of day that really reminds me of why I love weddings:

1. Beautiful Location! I love the MSU Gardens for a ceremony and the fabulous Eagle Eye for a reception!

2. Rachel's dress and accessories were awesome!

3. Both Ben and Rachel were totally up for anything. I really appreciated the fact that they trusted us.

Ben and Rachel opted to see eachother before the ceremony for their portraits - it was a really sweet moment of the day.

MSU has the best trees and I happen to love trees. One of my favorite shots ever.

The bridal party was so awesome! This set up was Sam's idea - love that we were able to get a great shot of the whole wedding party and see some of the golf landscape.

We just loved that Rachel changed to a super sassy birdcage veil for the reception!

Okay, so last week totally kicked my butt. Nothing in particular and everything all at once. This week is going to be better, I can feel it!!!

I finally (FINALLY!!) carved out some time to take some proper photos of our little Addie. She's just the most precious thing and has added so much sweetness to our lives. She's added some more craziness too but I won't mention that. At 5 weeks old today she's finally out of the newborn sized clothes we bought for her and wearing all the cute 0-3 months clothes! She's had her first visit to the cottage up north and her first visit to Grandma and Grandpa's house in Birch Run.

Today I am loving the fact that there's a beautiful blue sky outside my window! The weather people are calling for simply amazing weather for the rest of the week and weekend and I can't even tell you how happy that makes me! We are headed up north for our first weekend of the year at the cottage and we ALL can't wait! I'm sure even Addison is excited for her first trip!

It's been 3 weeks now since Addie was born and I can safely say that I am starting to feel back to normal and a little more energetic. We gave the house a good cleaning this weekend and *tried* to get some of the kid gear under control. Not an easy task. A project that I need to accomplish sometime this millenium is figuring out a good system for organizing all the books we have. It's always been important to me to have children that love reading and while I feel like I am accomplishing this, the books are OUT OF CONTROL and I have them stored in different places throughout the house. I'm thinking that I need them all in one spot. Sooo, I'll be on the lookout for some good shelving options here soon!

Another project that's weighing heavily on my mind is figuring out a good baby book option for Addison. The boys both had the kind you fill in - well, let me tell you that I am SO OVER those kind of books and the mommy guilt that comes with not filling them in with every detail of the first year of life. It's just not realistic for me at this point and what I really want my children to remember is how much they are loved and adored. So, I have some ideas in my head and we'll see where those take me....I am trying to keep up with taking weekly photos of Miss Addie and posting them here with a few thoughts so that I have some sort of record for later on. Here's this week's photo:

Thoughts on Addie:

-She finally has gained some weight - now up to 7 lbs as of Friday!
-Starting to grow out of the Newborn/Preemie sized clothes we bought for her
-Sleeping in crib and doing very well (mom and dad are sleeping a little more soundly now too)
-Having some more awake time
-We can't even remember life without her!

welcome to this world little Addison Anne Cornman! The princess was scheduled to arrive via c-section on May 4 but lucky us, she decided to make her appearance last Sunday, April 26! No complaints here! We are so blessed to have 8 extra days with her.

I'm at a loss for words right now to describe how we are all feeling about this little miracle. She's perfect, she's sweet, she's loud, she's cuddly, she's a big eater, she's already got her daddy and brothers wrapped around her finger, she's my daughter!

Old friends are the best.....

James and my husband were fraternity brothers in college. I met them both around the same time and have the fondest memories of some crazy times back at GVSU.

James and his wife Holly were married the year before Tim and I and we started our families around the same time. It seems like we've been in the same stages of life for the past few years. It's been great to keep in touch and hang out when we can. Luckily, Holly lets me photograph her family!

I just love these blue eggs. A lovely farm near my parents has a roadside stand with farm fresh eggs that I just discovered. There really is nothing like real, fresh eggs from a real farm. Bonus points when they are BLUE!

Well, here I am. Only about 6 weeks to go until the little person that has been residing in me will be making an appearance. I have so many emotions about her arrival and it's hard to put it into words.

Elation over the fact that Tim and I will have a daughter and Andrew and Alex will have a little sister. Uncertainty as I think about how I will ever manage 3 children. Stress as I try to get "everything" done before her arrival. Exhaustion as she is completely sucking the life out of me. Extreme Joy over the fact that we are so close to meeting her.

Luckily things are going smoothly at this point and I am getting what I can done. One thing I have learned as a small business owner/mom/wife is that I will never be caught up, I will always have things to do, and if I don't just stop and breathe, it will take over.

So, my goal for the next few weeks is to just take each day at a time, enjoy that day and know at the end of that day, I did what I could to make it a great one.

So happy for a sunny Friday!

As I get nearer and nearer to welcoming a new little person into the world I find myself nesting like crazy! Unfortunately, for the blog, this is taking away from precious blogging time. ;) I do try to keep my Facebook status updated throughout the day because, well, it's fun and to be honest, it's easier!

Okay, so it really doesn't ever take much to make me cry but lately, it's been wayyyyyyy worse than normal (gotta love those pregnancy hormones!).

I had a rare moment to myself in Target today and found myself in the children's book aisle. (In another life I must have wrote and/or illustrated children's books or owned a children's bookstore...I have a very bad obsession with them).

After looking through my favorites, I found the BEST book.....

If you or anyone you know has a daughter or is going to have a daughter, buy this book for them immediately. The text itself isn't gender specific but the illustrations are of a mother and daughter. Oh my! I tear up just thinking of it.

It's cold out. And snowy. And just yucky. To make us feel better, Andrew and I decided it was time to make some cookies. I wanted to make something a little different but knew it needed chocolate. I started rummaging through my pantry and came up with a combination of an oatmeal raisin/chocolate chip cookie. My philosophy is that if you are going to eat cookies, they must have chocolate, hence the missing raisins. Oh, and I only had 1/4 cup of butter so I tried adding in 1/4 cup of peanut butter. PERFECT. :)

Savannah and Pat were married last month in one of the most beautiful, intimate ceremonies I have ever had the pleasure of participating in. They chose to hold their ceremony at the beautiful home of Savannah's parents and be surrounded by only the people they love the most. The small group surrounded Savannah and Pat as they made their vows to each other and then celebrated afterwards.

The ceremony was so emotional. Having the people they love the most surrounding them so closely just added to the atmosphere. It was truly beautiful.

Wow...is it really 2009??? The past couple weeks have been a complete blur between the holiday madness and the fact that me and the kids have all been sick. Lovely.

I'm slowly but surely getting better and digging out of the holiday haze of new stuff, messy/germy house, pregnancy aches and pains and now am feeling consumed with planning for the new year and getting everything in order before the newest member of our family arrives this spring. I have especially been thinking about her room....We will be moving Alex into a room with Andrew and already have the bunkbeds for their room. Our rooms are pretty small so I am looking for some creative storage ideas for their room especially. But, for the girl...it's a whole new world!!!! A couple favorites I've found so far....

In this crazy time of the beginning of holiday madness and work craziness, I'm taking time to think about how much I love these boys. And, thinking about how our life will be changing in about 5 months when we add another new Cornman to our family...(yep, I'm pregnant!!!)
